APNA’s Transition to Practice Program is a 12-month education, support and mentoring program for nurses new to primary health care.
Who can apply?
- Transitioning nurses: Both registered and enrolled nurses can apply for a role as a transitioning nurse. If a nurse has recently transitioned to primary health care or feels they would benefit from additional support, they are able to apply. There are no time limits on how long a transitioning nurse has been in primary health care for.
- Mentors: Registered nurses or nurse practitioners with four or more years experience in primary health care can apply for a role as a mentor.
This is a 12-month program with mentors being involved for 10 of these months. There is mandatory induction training (provided as a webinar) for all participants on 10 July 2020.
Transitioning nurse’s and mentors are financially reimbursed for their participation in the program.
- $2,000 to the transitioning nurses
- $2,400 to the mentor, per transitioning nurse (mentors can support up to 2 transitioning nurses)
