The Resilient Kids Program Streams 1 and 2 provide service to support the capacity and resilience of children, young people, their parents and carers and schools in the effected regions of the 2022 catastrophic flooding in the Northern Rivers.
Stream 1 will deliver education and skill building school-based supports. Delivered by The Family Centre, services in Stream 1 will provide:
- Disaster resilient education
- Social and emotional wellbeing education
- Parent and carer support
Stream 2 will be delivered through a no-wrong-door hub and spoke model, with a focus on community building. Activities will be led by Social Futures and delivered at six Wellbeing Hubs around the Northern Rivers, with opportunities for outreach (or the spokes) to smaller communities. Support services and activities that will be provided in Stream 2 will be:
- Counselling services for children, young people and their families
- Education and skill building for children and young people
- Opportunities for peer-to-peer connection
- Spoke service (across more isolated regions)
- Collaboration and learning circles with schools
- Connection with other mental health and wellbeing services
- Brokerage fund for small scale events
Youth participation fund to for small scale events/activities to respond to emerging needs across the region. Small organisations and NGOs with experience in delivering services and young people will be invited to make a proposal for funding.
