North Coast Primary Health Network (NCPHN) cordially invites community members and media to attend the launch of the Healthy Towns’ South West Rocks Community Action Plan on Thursday June 20.
Over the past 12 months, the Healthy Towns program has worked in partnership with six North Coast communities to identify health and wellbeing needs and design local solutions. The communities are South West Rocks, Casino, Evans Head, Lake Cathie, Maclean and Woolgoolga.
After extensive consultation with residents of South West Rocks, North Coast Primary Health Network is delighted to announce funding of approximately
$220,000 for local projects. The funding comes from the Australian Government’s Primary Health Network funding and is delivered in partnership with local service providers and community groups.
The projects include:
Healthy Towns aims to build individual and community connections and improve access to services for people living in rural communities. Getting involved in the planning of local services and events has positive benefits for health and wellbeing.
Improving service access and coordination helps overcome barriers faced by rural people such as lack of access to transport and poorer access to services.
Healthy Towns has already achieved great outcomes in each community.
More than 3000 people have engaged with the program and many new relationships have been formed. We have funded more than 50 local projects and hosted health and wellbeing events in each town.
NCPHN is pleased that Healthy Towns has received positive engagement from diverse sectors of the community and brought together community members, services and organisations to build new connections and relationships. The program has been successful due to the amazing strengths and enthusiasm of the South West Rocks community to promote wellbeing.
Our funded projects will ensure that Healthy Towns continues to support strong and connected communities into the future.
