Share your thoughts: Community-led Safe Space in Wardell

Providing support for people experiencing emotional distress, suicidal distress, grief, and loss.

Wardell Neighbourhood Centre has recently been endorsed to progress the establishment of a Community-led Safe Space, with the support and guidance of Roses in the Ocean.

This initiative is part of a national effort to strengthen non-clinical, peer-led responses for people experiencing emotional distress, suicidal distress, grief, and loss.

Community-led Safe Spaces are designed to offer compassionate, human support outside of clinical settings, grounded in lived experience and shaped directly by local communities. For our region, this represents a meaningful opportunity to respond to the ongoing impacts of disaster, isolation, cumulative trauma, and gaps in crisis support that many people continue to experience.

The Centre is seeking your support in several ways:

  • Sharing insights, experience, and feedback to help guide the design of the Wardell Community-led Safe Space
  • Sharing the consultation survey link to your networks, where appropriate
  • Exploring opportunities for collaboration, referral pathways, and partnership as this service develops
  • Supporting a coordinated, community-based approach to assisting people experiencing distress or crisis

Your perspective is important. The success of this initiative depends on strong relationships, shared understanding, and collaboration across services and community organisations.
