Bridging Now to Next: Healthy North Coast celebrates National Reconciliation Week

Uncle Dave Kelly shared stories of Country, culture, and resilience.

At Healthy North Coast, we proudly recognised National Reconciliation Week 2025 (27 May – 3 June) with a series of meaningful gatherings in our different office locations that brought our team together to reflect, learn and connect.

This year’s theme, Bridging Now to Next, served as a powerful reminder of the ongoing connection between past, present and future in the journey toward reconciliation.

We were honoured to hear from Uncle Dave Kelly, a respected Dunghutti Elder and Cultural Engagement and Reconciliation Advisor at Healthy North Coast, who generously shared stories of Country, culture, and resilience.

Uncle Dave spoke with warmth and wisdom, encouraging us all to listen deeply, walk together, and play an active role in creating a more inclusive and just future. His words reminded us that reconciliation is not just a moment in time, but a commitment we carry forward every day in the work we do and the relationships we build.

Healthy North Coast acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands across our region – Birpai, Dunghutti, Gumbaynggirr, Yaegl, Bundjalung and Githabul nations – and pay our respect to Elders past, present and on their journey. We recognise these lands were never ceded and acknowledge the continuation of culture and connection to the land, sky and sea. We acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Land’s First Peoples and honour the rich diversity of the oldest living cultures.
