This quality improvement activity supports practices improve their recording of patient cervical screening test, directly related to Quality Improvement Measure # 9 in the practice incentives program (PIPQI) – Proportion of female regular clients with an up-to-date cervical screening test recorded in their GP record within the previous 5 years
Goal
Increase recording of proportion of females or people with a cervix, aged 25-74 with up-to-date cervical screening.
Measure of success
Proportion of females or people with a cervix, aged 25-74 with up-to-date cervical screening.
Actions
- Measure baseline with PenCS recipe to identify the proportion of regular female clients who are aged 25 to 74, who have not had a total hysterectomy and who have had a cervical screening (HPV test) within the previous five years.
- Review and analyse current practice processes in recording and maintaining data quality with the team.
- How is clinical data currently being collected?
- What are the common barriers to capturing and managing clinical data?
- How could we overcome these barriers and improve the process?
- Outline the process for clinical data collection
- Place software recording instructions in an accessible place for any person who enters data and ensure all staff are trained on the process.
