Train-the-trainer workshops for residential aged care nurses

An efficient way to deliver team training.

Residential aged care homes across the Mid North Coast and Northern NSW are invited to register nurses and clinical leaders for the Clinical Skills & Telehealth Trainer Program, a practical professional development opportunity designed to strengthen clinical leadership, education and workforce capability in aged care.

Developed through a partnership between Healthy North Coast and the University Centre for Rural Health, the program uses a ‘train-the-trainer’ model to equip participants with practical skills, tools and resources to deliver education within their own service.

  • Build confidence using telehealth, including mobile cart systems.
  • Apply structured communication and escalation tools, including ISBAR and the Healthy North Coast Deteriorating Resident Triage Tool (DRTT).
  • Strengthen clinical decision-making and coaching strategies.
  • Support staff with varied experience and confidence.
  • Recognise and respond to changes in a resident’s condition to support timely, coordinated and person-centred care.

The workshop also builds education and leadership capability through techniques in communication, human factors, crisis resource management and debriefing, helping participants create positive learning environments and build confidence across care teams.

Attendees will leave with a facilitator guide, resource kit and practical training materials ready to use within their service. The workshop provides 6 CPD hours and is ideal for nurses passionate about developing others, strengthening clinical practice and supporting excellence in aged care.
