Spotlight on care: Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Service

The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is proud to offer the Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Service (IDHS) – a program dedicated to making health care more inclusive and accessible for people with intellectual disability.

A local specialist clinician works with individuals, families, and health services, backed by the statewide IDHS team and outreach from Northern Sydney LHD. Together, they:

• Provide health assessments and care planning for people with complex needs
• Support clinicians with training, advice, and joint consultations
• Strengthen inclusive care across the health system.

Children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disability who have complex or unresolved health needs and a treating medical officer (e.g. GP or specialist).
