Spotlight on care: Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Service
The IDHS is a program dedicated to making health care more inclusive and accessible for people with intellectual disability.
The Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is proud to offer the Specialised Intellectual Disability Health Service (IDHS) – a program dedicated to making health care more inclusive and accessible for people with intellectual disability.
A local specialist clinician works with individuals, families, and health services, backed by the statewide IDHS team and outreach from Northern Sydney LHD. Together, they:
- Provide health assessments and care planning for people with complex needs
- Support clinicians with training, advice, and joint consultations
- Strengthen inclusive care across the health system.
Who can access the service?
Children, adolescents, and adults with intellectual disability who have complex or unresolved health needs and a treating medical officer (e.g. GP or specialist).
