Meet Bel Davis: ADHD Co-Management Coordinator

Bel Davis is an ADHD Clinical Nurse Consultant supporting the implementation of the new ADHD co-management model of care for children in our region.

The ADHD co-management model is the new standard model of care for children with ADHD in Northern NSW. It allows children and young people living with ADHD to receive ongoing prescription management through their regular GP, while continuing to receive oversight and review from paediatricians as required.

As the ADHD Co-Management Coordinator, Bel supports a safe and seamless transition of care between outpatient paediatricians and GPs. This includes triaging urgent concerns, providing support to GPs, coordinating communication, improving workup, helping adolescents transition to adult care and ensuring families stay informed and connected to the services they need.

Launched in early 2025 and co designed with GPs, specialist paediatric staff from the private and public sector, Aboriginal Medical Services and the Local Health Districts, this person and family centred service will significantly improve local access to care.

By enabling GPs to safely manage ADHD prescriptions with support from paediatric specialists, the model reduces long wait times for paediatric appointments, improves access to timely medication reviews and script renewals, and frees up specialist capacity to focus on new and complex cases.

It promotes continuity of care by maintaining trusted GP relationships and supports better health outcomes by streamlining services across both primary and specialist care settings.

Bel is keen to hear from GPs in Mid North Coast and Northern NSW to share their thoughts and experiences on the ADHD co-management model. This will help with identifying education knowledge gaps + needs.
