Protecting our most vulnerable: Boosting winter vaccinations in aged care

Timely immunisation in aged care is a matter of dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

As winter sets in, vaccination remains one of the most effective tools to protect residents from influenza, COVID-19, and other respiratory infections.

With aged care residents among the most vulnerable to complications, timely immunisation is not just a health priority – it’s a matter of dignity, safety, and wellbeing.

Healthy North Coast can help connect RACHs, general practices, pharmacy and local health services to improve access to vaccines, coordinate outreach clinics, and ensure residents are protected ahead of winter peaks.

New research partnership

We have also entered into an exciting research partnership – VITAL – with Charles Sturt University and the Mid North Coast Local Health District. This involves trialling new ways to increase vaccination rates in residential aged care, drawing on proven strategies from the highly successful childhood immunisation program.

We’ll soon be seeking RACHs to partner with us as we progress this work. If you’d like to know more, contact jwinwood@hnc.org.au.
