Our culture
and values
Our culture at Healthy North Coast is shaped by our shared purpose of supporting healthy people in North Coast communities. Our CAN-DO values guide how we work together, build strong partnerships and create better health outcomes for our region.
Our CAN-DO values
Our CAN-DO values help set the tone for how we work at Healthy North Coast. They give us a shared way to make decisions, work with each other and stay focused on practical outcomes for our communities.
They are intended to be practical and easy to apply, whether we are working with partners, supporting colleagues, planning services or responding to community needs.
A workplace where everyone belongs
We are committed to creating a workplace where diversity, equity and inclusion are part of how we work every day. We recognise, respect and celebrate Aboriginal peoples, LGBTQ+ people, people with experiences of disability and neurodiversity, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, refugees and people seeking asylum, people across different ages and life stages, people from rural and remote communities, people with caring responsibilities, and everyone who brings their skills, perspectives and lived experience to our work.
We want our workplace to be safe, respectful and welcoming, free from discrimination, harassment and exclusion, so that every person can feel supported and able to contribute.
Our people have opportunity to join the following committees / working groups:
Can-Do Committee
Our commitment to our values extends to having a Can-Do Committee with a focus on promoting employee engagement, wellbeing, diversity, and connection across Healthy North Coast. The committee supports initiatives and events that enhance staff experience, embeds organisational values into everyday work, and develops annual action plans to continuously improve workplace culture.
Pride in Diversity Committee and ACON membership
Healthy North Coast is proud to be a member of ACON’s Pride in Diversity program. This national workplace inclusion program supports our Pride in Diversity committee to foster an inclusive, safe, and respectful environment for all employees, with a specific focus on supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and broader diversity dimensions.

Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group
The RAP Working Group supports Healthy North Coast’s reconciliation efforts by providing guidance, encouraging staff engagement, strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, and helping monitor and report on RAP initiatives and progress.
Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Reporting
We participate in annual WGEA reporting to provide transparent data on gender equality in our workforce composition, pay equity, leadership representation and workplace policies and practices.
Healthy North Coast is proud to be accredited as a Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace by the Australian Breastfeeding Association. As part of our commitment to supporting employees and families, all of our workplaces provide appropriate spaces for breast/chestfeeding and expressing milk, helping employees transition back to work with confidence.
