Diversity, equity and inclusion
Building a culture of inclusion
At Healthy North Coast, diversity, equity and inclusion are important to how we work with our people, partners and communities.
We recognise that people have different needs and may experience different barriers to participation and healthcare. Understanding these differences helps us make informed decisions and respond to the needs of North Coast communities.
Our approach to diversity, equity and inclusion is about recognising and respecting differences, understanding the barriers people may experience and creating environments where everyone feels welcomed, valued and supported.
We are committed to making these principles part of how we work, make decisions and engage with the people and communities of the North Coast.
Supporting equitable and inclusive healthcare
Supporting equitable anAs the Primary Health Network for the North Coast, we recognise that people’s circumstances and experiences can influence their health and access to care.
Factors such as culture, language, disability, income, geographic location and social circumstances can create barriers to accessing appropriate healthcare.
We work with healthcare providers, community organisations and people with lived experience to better understand these challenges and support services that respond to local needs.
Through our partnerships, community engagement and commissioning activities, we aim to:
- Recognise and respond to the diverse needs of North Coast communities.
- Support culturally safe, accessible and inclusive healthcare.
- Include community perspectives and lived experience in planning and decision-making.
- Identify barriers to healthcare and opportunities to improve access.
- Build meaningful partnerships that support better health outcomes.
By listening, learning and working together, we aim to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable primary healthcare system
