Referring to Tweed Urgent Care Service

Northern NSW Local Health District’s Tweed Urgent Care Service is now accepting referrals from local GPs for patients who need urgent care for non‑life‑threatening conditions.

The service aims to reduce avoidable emergency department presentations by providing rapid clinical assessment and short‑term treatment in patients’ homes. Telehealth consultations are available when appropriate.

The service is available to people living within the Tweed Urgent Care Service footprint: from Tweed Heads to Pottsville and out to Murwillumbah. Eligibility is linked to patients’ residential addresses.

The multidisciplinary service team includes nurse practitioners, extended care paramedics, registered nurses, a physiotherapist, an occupational therapist and a social worker.

They can support a range of urgent care needs, including respiratory illness, wound and infection management, minor fractures and falls intervention, indwelling catheters and drains, and basic suturing.

The service is available 8am to 8pm seven days a week and is free for Medicare cardholders.

GPs and other clinicians can refer through eReferral or by calling the clinician referral line: 0459 314 744. All referrals are triaged by the Tweed Urgent Care Service team.
