allergy assist: A new allergy advice service connecting rural doctors with clinical immunology/allergy specialists

allergy assist™ is a free national online service designed to provide rural doctors with education and advice from clinical immunology/allergy specialists.

This service aims to improve patient access in rural, remote and First Nations communities by supporting local doctors to diagnose, treat and manage patients locally resulting in reduced wait times for specialist consultations and minimising patient travel.

The platform provides an asynchronous discussion/chat via a secure web application where the user (rural general practitioners and rural generalists) can submit a de-identified case, and a clinical immunology/allergy specialist panel member will respond to that case within 48 hours.

This service is free for ACRRM members, and a limited number of non-members working in MM2 to MM7.

Users can search a clinical index for similar cases or submit a new de-identified patient case including photos. Users will also have access to allergy education cases, mini modules, webinars, resources and quizzes on the platform. allergy assist™ users can earn CPD hours for participating in the educational content.
