Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Program
Supports Aboriginal people through culturally appropriate mental health and wellbeing services delivered through local Aboriginal community-controlled health organisations.
Community need
The Social and Emotional Wellbeing program supports Aboriginal people to achieve better mental health and wellbeing through services designed and delivered by community. These services recognise the importance of culture, family and connection to Country. The program provides a range of supports tailored to local needs and works alongside other health services to ensure people receive holistic, coordinated care.
Our approach
The program supports community-controlled models of care delivered through Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. Services are holistic and person-centred, combining social, emotional, cultural and mental health supports that respond to local community needs.
Consultation
The program is guided by Aboriginal communities and delivered through Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations. Local services, community members and Aboriginal health workers contribute to service design, delivery and continuous improvement to ensure supports remain culturally safe and responsive.
