Art on Bundjalung Country is an exciting project to engage people of the Bundjalung Nation to participate in the creative arts with the aim of improving health and wellbeing through social and cultural connection.
The project was initiated through North Coast Primary Health Network in partnership with Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation, Arts Northern Rivers, Lismore Regional Gallery and the University Centre for Rural Health in 2017. The project has seen great success with many anecdotal stories of how art has enhanced the wellbeing of those who attended the workshops. Many of the art works generated from the workshops were displayed and sold at the Art on Bundjalung Country Exhibition that was held at the new Lismore Regional Gallery from 8 December to 11 February 2018.
The project was transitioned to Arts Northern Rivers in July 2018 and continues to provide opportunities for Aboriginal people to explore better health and wellbeing through connecting with the cultural arts.
