GP eReferrals to the Lismore Base Hospital Specialty Outpatient Clinics and the Lismore Pain Clinic have been tested by a small number of northern NSW general practices for the past month to ensure the solution is appropriate for wider use.
After this initial test, the eReferrals trial to the two NNSWLHD clinics is being scaled up to all GPs in northern NSW (note the GP system requirements in the What’s Involved section below).
Advantages of eReferral
Information Security
This project was seed-funded by eHealth NSW and resourced by NNSWLHD.
Thanks to Lennox Head Medical Centre, Goonellabah Medical Centre, Evans Head Medical Centre, Jullums Aboriginal Medical Service and Maria Clinic for their work on initial testing of the platform.
Step 1: Complete the NNSWLHD’s GP referrals questionnaire before you get started.
This will provide the LHD with vital feedback from GPs on the current referral process, including any issues. Click here to complete online or download a paper-based version.
Step 2: To be able to send eReferrals:
NNSWLHD will coordinate with HealthLink to make NNSW eReferrals available in early August to all practices with HealthLink Forms already activated.
If you do not yet have HealthLink Secure Messaging and/or Forms activated, practice managers will need to contact HealthLink on 1800 125 036 or [email protected] to do so.
After this is completed, practice managers should let their Primary Health Coordinator or Aboriginal Health Coordinator know who will arrange for eReferrals to be turned on for your practice.
Visit the NNSWLHD project web page for more information and resources to help you take advantage of eReferrals.
