Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people represent 5.0% of the North Coast population, surpassing the proportions for New South Wales (2.9%) and Australia (2.6%) (HNC Needs Assessment 2022-25). Of the total 18,612 eligible active patients (Outside of Aboriginal Medical Services), only 2,887 completed the 715 Health Assessment, accounting for just 15.5% of the total population (PATCAT, 2024).
