The First 1000 Days Portal Launches

The first thousand days of life are key to lifelong health and wellbeing. Experiences during this time shape the way our brains, bodies and emotions develop. Children do best when they have supportive environments in these early years.

The First 1000 Days portal is an online, evidence-based resource designed to support parents and carers. It contains useful resources to help with navigating the early years of childhood.

Resources include information about:

  • Support services for parents and carers
  • Pregnancy: Physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing during pregnancy
  • Development: Your child’s everyday needs and how you can support their development
  • Supportive relationships: Building the warm and caring relationships that children need
  • Safety and security: Giving children the sense of safety and security at home and in the community that they need
  • Time to play: Play helps to build children’s brains
  • A healthy environment: Giving children the healthy, toxin free environment that they need
  • Healthy food: The nutritious food children need
