The Department of Health’s Practice Incentives Program (PIP) Quality Improvement (QI) Incentive commenced on 1 August 2019. Over half of all eligible practices nationally signed up by the end of the first week. The first Incentive Payments will be made to practices in November 2019.
If your practice has not yet registered for PIP QI Incentive, please follow the instructions provided by the Department of Health. The final date for registrations for the first quarter payment is 15 October 2019.
Given the amount of local interest in the new QI PIP registration, there is currently some delay in arranging for the PenCAT Software to be installed. If you have yet to sign up for an installation, please contact us as soon as possible. The first data extraction must be made by 15 October 2019 for the practice to meet the data sharing requirements of the PIP for the first quarter.
If you are using PenCAT and you have a patient who does not consent to their de-identified data being included in the data extraction, the steps to remove them are very simple and can be seen in this flyer.
You may have read that the Department of Health has recently decided to allow more flexibility in the way that data can be extracted and shared with PHNs. NCPHN can only currently accept data securely through PenCAT.
If you do not have software that is compliant with PenCAT, or choose not to use the PenCAT data extraction tool, we recommend you consider applying to the Department of Health for a one-off, special time based exemption which, if granted, will allow up to 12 months to develop a process to extract the PIP Eligible Data Set from your CIS and send it to us securely. You should register for the PIP QI and continue working with the PHN on quality improvement activities while the data extraction issues are being resolved to ensure that you are eligible for the quarterly payments.
If you have any questions about the PIP QI Incentive, please contact your Quality Improvement Support Officer.
