North Coast Primary Health Network has invited seven international leaders of integrated health care to TRANSFORMERS II – the second Special Event Series. Dr Nick Goodwin (UK), Prof Anne Hendry (Scotland) and Dr Alexander Pimperl (Germany) are among the scholars presenting on the need for community engagement and empowerment in health.

12:50pm – Delegates from primary health, social services, local health districts, community organisations, tertiary education, general practice and community arrive.
1:15pm – 1:30pm – Dr Nick Goodwin (UK) and Karen Barrie (Scotland) present a session titled: “Why engage? The rationale and evidence that lies behind the need to engage and empower people.
1:30pm – 2:30pm – NCPHN’s Chief Executive Dr Vahid Saberi leads a local panel session called “What’s being done on the North Coast?” This will include discussion about improving health literacy, providing patients with sick day action plans; helping to empower patients to improve health outcomes and what health literacy means for the Aboriginal population.
2:45pm – 3:45pm International panel will respond to “What’s being done on the North Coast?” by exploring ideas and proven strategies to improve patients’ health care experience and outcomes. Topics include community engagement, Anticipatory Care Planning, health kiosks and fitness and strength training.
Transformers II is held over three days and offers a rare opportunity for the local community and health workforce to engage with international experts.
