A new dermatologist has joined the Lismore Skin Clinic: Dr Claudia Curchin.
Dr Curchin treats all aspects of adult and paediatric skin conditions and skin cancers. She has a special interest in paediatrics, women’s genital dermatoses, acne, eczema, psoriasis and skin cancer.
Dr Curchin grew up in the Northern Rivers and went to school in Lismore. She completed a Bachelor of Science (Anatomy) and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Queensland in 2007. She worked as a junior doctor at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She then gained a Harold Hyam Wingate Foundation medical research travel grant and conducted research in Reflectance Confocal Microscopy, a non-invasive imaging device for skin cancers. She completed her Australasian College of Dermatology fellowship in 2015.
Dr Curchin has been working at the Central Dermatology Clinic on the Sunshine coast. She is now returning to the Northern Rivers to live permanently and will be working in private practice at the Lismore Skin Clinic. Initially Dr Curchin will be working 2 or 3 days per week.
Dr Curchin will be joining Dr Ken Gudmundsen who opened the Lismore Skin Clinic in 2000. This clinic is the only full-time Specialist Dermatology Service in the Northern Rivers, servicing a large area from Tenterfield in the west, to virtually the border with Queensland in the north, to Grafton and Yamba in the south, and Ballina-Byron bay on the coast. Her arrival will increase the number of patients that we can see in a timely manner, and expand our expertise.
