After the initial COVID-19 telehealth MBS items were released on 13 March, the Australian Government has now expanded telehealth MBS items to ALL Australians.
The range of bulk-billed services GPs, allied health and specialists can provide over video or phone from 8am Monday 30 March include mental health treatment, chronic disease management and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health assessments, as well as services to people with eating disorders, pregnancy support counselling, services to patients in aged care facilities, children with autism, and after-hours consultations.
The GP bulk-billing incentive will be doubled for GPs and an incentive payment will be established to help practices stay open to provide face-to-face services where they are essential for patients with conditions that can’t be treated through telehealth. Read the media release.
North Coast PHN is currently updating the localised resources and patient triage workflows. These new resources will be published on our COVID-19 webpage and emailed to our newsletter subscribers on Monday 30 March.
