The Director of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology service at Lismore Base Hospital, Dr John Tierney, would like to thank GPs for their continued support of this service.
The team asks GPs to please continue referring all pregnant women to the hospital antenatal services at the earliest opportunity. This facilitates the early identification of antenatal risk factors and does not affect the shared care model.
To avoid duplication of results, please fax copies of all pregnancy-related ultrasounds and lab results to the Antenatal Clinic at (02) 6620 2223.
Cervical length scanning is an integral part of the morphology ultrasound. The normal cervical length at around 20 weeks should be greater than 2.5cms.
Any cervical length less than 2.5cm needs an urgent referral to Birth Suite. Please notify the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Registrar on call to discuss. They can be contacted via the Lismore Base Hospital switchboard on (02) 6624 0200.
