Free Non-Residential Rehab in Ballina

The Buttery is offering a free six-week drug and alcohol addiction treatment program in Ballina. The service will allow people to get help without joining a residential program.

The community rehab program (CORE) is an evidence-based model of rehabilitation which has revolutionised the practice of addiction treatment.

Many people who would benefit from a long-term stay at rehab facilities are unable to do so because of long waiting lists or personal circumstances.

CORE is delivered during school hours (9.30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m.) four days per week over six weeks and will be followed by aftercare.

“This concept is not only more cost-effective than residential rehab, it is flexible enough to help people who would never have been able to put their family commitments on hold to seek intensive rehab,” said the program’s manager Tanya Magnay.

The six-week program will be offered from 10 February 2020 in Ballina. The program runs from Monday to Thursday each week. Assessment of potential participants is now taking place.

CORE addresses lifestyle issues such as:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Stress management
  • Mental health
  • Budgeting

The program also offers opportunities for recreational and social activities in a safe and caring environment to address the social isolation that many people experience.
