Disaster Management HealthPathways – Bushfire Support

In consideration of the ongoing bushfires across our footprint, we have localised the Disaster Management HealthPathways to assist all health professionals across our community.

Disaster Management – Mental Health

This pathway is for patients presenting with mental health issues arising from disasters or adverse weather events. There is assessment and support advice and links to services such as bereavement, grief, and loss, financial assistance, mental health support services, drug and alcohol and domestic and family violence services.

There are also some great patient resources available such as:

This information is also available on the Patient Info website.

Disaster Management – General Practice Response

This page is for use by general practices during a disaster or adverse weather event. The pathway details how the local primary care response is coordinated and provides advice for GPs deployed to an evacuation or recovery centre. There is patient management information about patients with chronic disease, effects of bushfire smoke exposure, heat-related illness, access to patient records, vaccine storage, preventative care and medication safety. In the event of a natural disaster or emergency it may be updated with specific relevant information.

NOTE: New resources are constantly being added to these pathways.

Emergency contacts and patient resources from this pathway are also available on the Patient Info website: Disaster Resources
