Free alcohol and other drug addiction treatment in Macksville, Nambucca Heads, Bowraville and Nambucca Valley areas

The Buttery is offering a free four-week program that allows people to get help with their alcohol and other drug problems without needing to join a residential program.

The CORE program is an evidence-based model of intensive rehabilitation that has revolutionised the practice of addiction treatment. Many people who would benefit from a long-term stay at a rehab facility are unable to do so because of long waiting lists or personal circumstances, such as parenting or carer responsibilities.

CORE will be delivered during school hours (9.15 am to 1.00 pm), four days per week as an online program over four weeks and will be followed by aftercare.

“This concept is not only more cost-effective than residential rehab, it is flexible enough to help people who would never have been able to put their family commitments on hold to seek intensive rehab. As it is an on-line program, people can take part from their home or other location,” said the program’s manager, Tanya Magnay.

The four-week program will first be offered from Monday 24 May 2021. The program runs from Monday to Thursday each week. Assessment of potential participants is now taking place.

CORE will address lifestyle issues such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, mental health and budgeting. It will also offer opportunities for social connection in a safe and caring online environment to address the social isolation that many people experience.
