Palliative Care Education for Residential Aged Care Staff (MNCLHD only).
Palliative care is core business in residential aged care – so having the right support and confidence in the moment makes all the difference.
To help residential aged care staff build confidence and strengthen their understanding of palliative care, Mid North Coast Local Health District (MNCLHD) is delivering a monthly education series tailored for Residential Aged Care Facilities. This series aims to help staff provide the best possible support to residents during this difficult time.
Sessions will be short, practical and will provide attendees the opportunity to hear directly from palliative care experts, with time for questions and discussion.

- Thursday 11 June 2026 – Clinician Self-Care
- Thursday 9 July 2026 – Spinal Cord Compression
- Thursday 13 August 2026 – Positioning the patient, mouth, eye and personal care
- Thursday 10 September 2026 – Last days of life
- Thursday 8 October 2026 – Pain management
- Thursday 12 November 2026 – Conversations with family and carer
- Thursday 10 December 2026 – Syringe driver management.
What to expect:
- 30-minute sessions (20 minutes education + 10 minutes Q&A)
- Sessions held the second Thursday of each month – 2:30pm – 3:00 pm
- Delivered via Microsoft Teams
- Practical, relevant topics for aged care
- Opportunity to build confidence in recognising and responding to palliative care needs
