This pilot program, run by Prof James Bennett-Levy from the University Centre for Rural Health, will evaluate the effectiveness of Compassion-Focused Therapy groups.
Those taking part will be Aboriginal people aged 18 years and over. Evaluation includes measures of self-compassion, mood, anxiety and everyday function.
The pilot will mentor and train assistant facilitators of Compassion-Focused Therapy including at least one Aboriginal clinician.
Aboriginal staff from Namatjira Haven, Rekindling The Spirit and Bunjum Aboriginal Cooperative will be trained as Assistant Group Facilitators as part of the pilot.
