The Youth Connections project will deliver a range of activities to improve the health and wellbeing of young people in Casino. The activities will be determined by a steering committee with membership from NCPHN, Momentum Collective, Bulgarr Ngaru Medical Aboriginal Corporation and Richmond Valley Council.
This funding will be used to develop a program to build leadership skills in young people. The project will provide youth ambassadors with skills and knowledge to train their peers in interest topics related to health and wellbeing and community participation and development.
Momentum Collective will coordinate a 10-week series of film making workshops facilitated by Reel Abrupt Film Festival aiming to develop young peoples’ screenwriting and storytelling skills through the medium of film.
The funding will also be used to support the Casino Young People’s Film Festival. Through a partnership with Northern Rivers Community Legal Service, the festival will showcase the creative talents, ideas and stories of children and young people in Casino – along with establishing an annual cultural event for the wider community.
Aboriginal youth cultural and reconciliation activities in Casino to enhance health outcomes.
Health and wellbeing education delivered to young people in line with their needs, interests and life stage.
